Workshop inventory guides
Tool inventory software for Mac: a small-shop setup
A useful workshop inventory should answer three questions quickly: what do I own, where is it and what condition or obligation follows it?
Name physical locations
Use the labels already spoken in the shop: main bench, cabinet, finishing room, service van and off-site storage.
Create stable asset codes
Assign a short unique code that does not depend on the current location or borrower.
Photograph identity
Capture the complete tool plus the manufacturer plate, model and serial number where available.
Export a recovery copy
Keep PDF or CSV outside the workshop so the record survives loss, theft or computer replacement.
